I presented another custom installation of my 6 Feet Apart series as a solo exhibition in conjunction with this photo festival. This typology documents the ubiquitous ground markers directing us all to keep 6 feet apart to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Presented on the floor and walls, it invites viewers to reflect on how our lives have changed due to the pandemic.

About the gallery

Articulate project space is an artist-run initiative — in Australia they refer to it as A.R.I. ! — in the US we would call it a nonprofit art center.

It’s a building with lots of soul that houses studios and galleries. Articulate supports “process without a predetermined outcome and provides a unique forum that can open a way for you to extend your practice. This could include such things as creating directions for new work, new collaborations and other forms of inquiry relevant to your practice.” There are 3 galleries in the building and my exhibition runs concurrently with “Reflections” by Liz Shreeve and “Shift” by Steven Fasan and Anke Stäcker

Country/land acknowledgment statements: The gallery acknowledges the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the Country on which Articulate stands. I also acknowledge the Ramaytush Ohlone and Coastal Miwok people on whose land most of these photos were taken and the physical images were produced. Some images are also from Ainu lands in Japan.

@nicolekshaffer @recologyair excellent exhibition @nicolekshaffer @recologyair excellent exhibition that’s open today and Tuesday. This program has been producing amazing art for decades. Nicole‘s work is like a mashup of “the Wizard of Oz” and “one flew over the cuckoo‘s nest”
BERLIN:: “Deutschland Deutschland übel alles,” is BERLIN:: “Deutschland Deutschland übel alles,” is a satirical pun on the historical first line of the German national anthem: “Deutschland, Deutschland über alles” (Germany, Germany above all). The sign changes the word “über” (above/over) to “übel” (bad, awful, or nauseating).

Meaning of the Pun:: Literally translated, the sign means “Germany, Germany, awful/sickening everything” or “Germany is bad above all else.”It is used as a form of political satire or protest. By using this phrase, the person displaying the sign is expressing deep frustration, anger, or dissatisfaction with the current state of German politics, society, or the government.

The original meaning (1841): When Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben wrote the lyrics, Germany was not a unified country but a collection of independent kingdoms and duchies. The phrase “Germany above all” originally meant that the dream of a unified German democratic nation should be more important than loyalty to individual local rulers. During the Nazi regime, the phrase was co-opted to mean German supremacy and dominance over other nations.

The Brick, 518 N. Western Ave. Los Angeles 90004 - To Share a Stomach is an exhibition shaped by proposals, instructions, and written correspondences sent by artists currently living and working in Iran. interesting work and of course so timely as we hope these artists in Iran are able to be safe — and hope for much more beyond safety.

You are witnessing a quintessential Finnish univer You are witnessing a quintessential Finnish university tradition: student orientation and “appro” events.
Early September marks the start of the academic year at Tampere University and TAMK (Tampere University of Applied Sciences). You are seeing thousands of new and returning students participating in orientation week activities and citywide orientation rallies (fuksi suunnistus).
What to Know About the Tradition
 * The Colorful Overalls (Haalarit): The boiler suits or overalls are the official uniform of Finnish university students. The color indicates their field of study—for example, red for medicine, dark blue for computer science, yellow for psychology, or white for business.
 * The Fabric Patches: Students customize their overalls over their entire academic career by sewing on embroidered patches collected from events, student guilds, and parties.
 * The “Treasure Hunt”: The small groups you see navigating the city with maps or phones are participating in an orientation checkpoint rally. Groups complete funny challenges, trivia, or team-building games at stations hosted by older students across parks and public squares to earn points and collectible patches.
