Ari Salomon is a San Francisco–based artist working across photography, sculpture, and installation.
His work explores the boundary between the seen and the sensed, using photographic images as a starting point for material transformation. Across projects, he investigates perception, memory, and the ways images shift when translated into physical form.
Often varied in appearance, his series are connected by a conceptual interest in how we experience and interpret the world—tracing the gap between what is observed and what is understood. Recent work expands photography beyond the frame into object and process, where images are altered through time, intervention, and physical change.
Salomon was born in Israel, raised in San Diego, and is now based in San Francisco. He received a B.A. in Art History from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a focus on contemporary art theory and photography.
His work has been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally, including in Kyoto, Tokyo, Paris, and Poland. He has presented solo and group exhibitions at venues such as the Kyotographie festival, Head On Photo Festival, and the SFMOMA Artists Gallery.
In addition to his studio practice, Ari is also a graphic designer & WordPress expert who enjoys building websites for artists and a wide variety of other clients.
