Eyebombing – another kind of Interface

A really fun take on similar idea i explore in my Interface series

See the World Differently through Eyebombing… “the best facial recognition software is the human imagination.”

Kim Nielsen and Peter Dam coined the term late last year: “Eyebombing is the act of setting googly eyes on inanimate things in the public space. Ultimately the goal is to humanize the streets, and bring sunshine to people passing by.” Their intentions are contrary to those of traditional tags, which Nielsen and Dam see as “egocentric behavior… using vandalism to [get respect]”; eyebombing is “only about the message itself.”

they mention this great AmEx video in the article too:

I'm honored to be on the Host Committee for First I'm honored to be on the Host Committee for First Exposures' annual art auction and youth exhibition fundraiser: Looking Forward, Giving Back.

First Exposures has been doing remarkable work in San Francisco for over 30 years. Based in the Mission District, they offer free photography classes and 1:1 mentoring for youth ages 11-18, helping them find their voice and build self-confidence.

If you care about empowering youth to thrive, express themselves creatively, and connect with their communities, support this transformational program!

Mark your calendars for Thursday, May 7, 2026 and join me at SOMArts Cultural Center in celebrating the work of some amazing youth photographers, their mentors, and several local community artists.

in 2009 I want to Review Santa Fe. i met @dariushi in 2009 I want to Review Santa Fe. i met @dariushimes @flakphoto @susanspiritusgallery and many others.

at the time i wrote "... what a useful and intense event it was for me. Just getting my talking points organized for it was really helpful. Meeting the other artists gave me a perspective that was as useful as the reviewer's feedback." and reminded myself that this was a marathon - not a sprint. now i try to remind myself that it's not a race at all.
