SF Photobook Fair

Saturday, October 18: 11 AM – 5 PM

Sunday, October 19: 10 AM – 4 PM

The amazing Harvey Milk Photo Center will host over 30 tables of publishers and vendors selling and promoting photography books, magazines, and zine publications during this free, two-day weekend event. I will participate with other BAPC photographers including Alison Taggart-Barone and John Martin.

I will be presenting a prototype edition of my ongoing book project 5 Years, 6 Feet Apart, a photographic and essay-based exploration of the symbols and markings that defined how we navigated public space during the pandemic. Developed through exhibitions and conversations with curators and writers, the project brings together images, text, and research around the emotional and spatial residue of those temporary instructions.

It includes 5 sections of images that turn my installations into a book form. It includes my own writings as well as 2 essays by contributors:

  • “The Aesthetics of Peril and Panic” by Renny Pritikin (Formerly the chief curator of The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco)
  • “Lines, Loss, and the Gravity of Time“ by Christopher Lee (a medical epidemiologist focused on global epidemic and pandemic preparedness, detection, and response)

You are witnessing a quintessential Finnish univer You are witnessing a quintessential Finnish university tradition: student orientation and “appro” events.
Early September marks the start of the academic year at Tampere University and TAMK (Tampere University of Applied Sciences). You are seeing thousands of new and returning students participating in orientation week activities and citywide orientation rallies (fuksi suunnistus).
What to Know About the Tradition
 * The Colorful Overalls (Haalarit): The boiler suits or overalls are the official uniform of Finnish university students. The color indicates their field of study—for example, red for medicine, dark blue for computer science, yellow for psychology, or white for business.
 * The Fabric Patches: Students customize their overalls over their entire academic career by sewing on embroidered patches collected from events, student guilds, and parties.
 * The “Treasure Hunt”: The small groups you see navigating the city with maps or phones are participating in an orientation checkpoint rally. Groups complete funny challenges, trivia, or team-building games at stations hosted by older students across parks and public squares to earn points and collectible patches.

January 9 – March 28, 2027
Bedford Gallery, Walnut Creek @bedfordgallery

移りゆく世界

Shifting Worlds brings together artists from the Bay Area Photographers Collective @bapcsf and Samurai Foto @samurai.foto from Japan in a dialogue about movement and impermanence. Across geographies, these photographers attend to a world in constant transition, where light shifts, environments evolve, and change is the only constant. Curated by @artalatrinca
Two wonderful solo shows @500cappstreet by @andy_ Two wonderful solo shows @500cappstreet by @andy_vogt_studio who saved a discarded door from the house and brought it to life on the deck. And @amyclairet who brings beauty from distressed and discarded objects in a poetic way. Best show of the year.
